Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
When does carline/drop-off begin at ECDC? Car line drop-off and toddler drop-off begin at 9am. We are usually done by 9:15 but in the beginning we anticipate it will take a little longer. Should I unbuckle my child while we are waiting in the carline? Please keep your child BUCKLED in the car seat until a teacher opens the car door. What should we do if we arrive late and no one is outside for car line drop-off? Please come to the ECDC front office to sign-in your child, and a member of the staff will walk your child back to their classroom. What if my child is upset or crying at drop-off? The ECDC staff member that is helping your child out of the car or accepting the child via parent hand-off, has had a lot of experience with crying/upset/hesitant children. Reassure your child that they are going to have a great day. They need to feel and hear “confidence” from you. You can call the ECDC office later to check in and see how your child is doing/adjusting. We will always check on a child for a parent/guardian. What time does afternoon pick-up start? Afternoon pick-up begins at 2:15 and ends at 2:30 p.m. What do I do if I am running late to pick-up my child? If you are running late due to an unexpected reason, please call the ECDC office at 281-492-0623, and we will notify your child’s teacher. The teacher will reassure your child that you are on your way. Once you arrive, if classroom pick-up is over and if it is past 2:30 p.m., your child will be brought to the front office to be picked up. Does ECDC close if Katy ISD closes? Yes, we follow what KISD does on bad weather days. Does ECDC have early dismissal days? Yes, there are a few staff development days where school will end at noon. Please reference the Parent Calendar for those specific dates. |
Should my child bring a snack to school?
Yes, please include a healthy snack for your child in a small resealable container. Snack suggestions can be provided by your classroom teacher. What kind of clothes or shoes should my child wear to school? All ECDC children must wear closed toe shoes. We highly recommend you send your child in play clothes (with an elastic waist until they can independently use snaps, zippers and buttons) and sneakers. While we do use washable paints, even those can sometimes stain clothes so please do not send your child in expensive clothing that you do not want to get dirty. The children play in sand boxes and have lots of fun doing messy art in class. Please provide your child’s teacher with a weather appropriate change of clothes and extra undergarments and socks, accidents are a common occurrence in pre-school. Please label everything with first and last name that you send to school. Do I have to use a divided container? St. Peter’s ECDC is asking parents of all classes, to send their child’s lunch in a divided container with one lid. This type of container allows the teachers to open the container quickly (for those who require assistance) or help the child to open it. Toddlers like to grab each other’s lunch if they must wait too long and pre-school age children tend to accidently pick-up or eat from a classmate’s baggie or container, because they are distracted visiting with one another. A divided container gives the children a sense of their own space at the table. Will my child take a nap at school? Children in all age groups will take a nap or have quiet time, after lunch, at school. Students should bring their own nap mats along with a lovey (if needed). |
