The Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) train is sponsored by our ECDC Parent Council. Parents volunteer to take the cart to their child’s classroom once a month and carry out the activity/experiment which has been fully prepared by our ECDC Parent Council. The STEAM lessons are developed by the Parent Council working together with the ECDC Director and teachers to be age appropriate and to reflect ongoing lessons.

October: Do pumpkins sink or float?
Our students will explore the concept of floating and sinking through hands-on investigation with pumpkins, building curiosity, language skills, and early science reasoning

​November: Feed the Turkey!
Our students will learn how to compare what is more/less and understand how numbers represent quantities. They will also work on following multi-step directions and test predictions through play

February: Measure with hearts!
Our students will explore nonstandard measurements using heart cutouts and compare length using words such as longer, shorter, and same and practicing counting with one-to-one correspondence. They will also read the story book " The day it rained hearts" by Felicia Bond
